How about getting the shire back up and running
It has been far too long my friends since we have gathered and enjoyed each other's company.
So what do people say to putting on an event in January or February?
Ideas for where to have it and for themes would be welcome.

Greetings From Yaakov
Unto the good people of the Shire of Ma'ale Adumim, greetings from Mar Yaakov HaMizrachi.
While I know some of you, I look forward to meeting you all at the Purim event. As we prepare for our visit, my lady and I are wondering about a few things.
1) Exactly where is the Purim event?
2) For those of us staying in Yerushaliyim, will this count as our Purim seudah?
3) What bardic activity, if any, is planned? Should I bring my song books with me?
4) I'm likely to bring my inlaws, who are not SCA but are familiar with the concept and we will provide loaner garb.
Again, I look forward with eagerness and anticipation.
Mar Yaakov HaMizrachi

And finally Saturday night at 7:30 we will be having a feast (dairy/fish), along with bardic, dance and gambling (location TBA).

Visiting Your Lovely Shire
I'm a resident of the Barony of Madrone in the Kingdom of An Tir (Seattle, WA, USA) and I'm about to leave for a good week-and-a-half trip with my partner to your Shire. We'll be staying in Tel Aviv and taking side trips to Elat/Petra, Nazareth, Caesera, Masada, and of course Jerusalem. I'd love to drop by your fencing practice if you're still having it and I was hoping for advice on local places a SCAdian wouldn't want to miss. Many thanks in advance.

reenacment in Israel
I was surprised to find an SCA Israeli page, not that I wasn't looking for, but ... :)
OK. I've got some questions.
In reenacting which period you are interested in?
Are you familiar (and interested) in living history?
Are you the only reenacment group in Israel?
I ask because I'm going to make aliyah this august, and, being in reencament movement for more then 5 years I'd like to continue it in Eretz Israel.
With best regards,

I know we have a number of ideas floating around, so send them all to shawntaub at gmail dot com. I'll post this to the YahooGroup soon.

So, how'd it go?
Having recently kindled my own Eighth Night of Channukah candles, I was just wondering how the event went. I figure either someone's home by now, or it went very, very well ;) Current Mood: curious

X-Posted to the Yahoo Groups mailing list. I'd like the signup to mostly be handled there. If, for some reason, you're here and not there, by all means, use the comment thread for signing up.
There are a number of activities that I'd either like to start up, or to restart over the coming months. Below, you'll find the list.( longCollapse )

Fun things to make with Etrogim
Being that the SCA are creative folk, I was wondering if anyone had a good idea how to turn etrogs (citrons) into something useful after Sukkot. I have heard tell of making liquor out of them...how might one do so, preferable on a shoestring budget? Any other fun ideas will be greatly appreciatted.
Cross posted to SCA, and wierd_jews.

So here is what I have so far on confirmed dates of events:
26-27 Camp out.
I know there is more. However the list is so convoluted that I have no idea what is what or where.
Could someone please fill me in on the rest?

New group name
As it looks like the name “beit aryeh” will not be accepted by the heralds, we need to pick a new group name. I have created a poll
so we can vote. This round is an approval vote, so vote for any or all names that you like. We will take the top few choices and vote at 8th night.

To kmelion dhole
on getting their Awards of Arms at the Pennsic war. For those of you who where not there this means that they can call themselves “Lord” or “Lady” and were formally recognized by the crown of drachenwald
for the good work they have done in getting our shire off of the ground. Current Mood: bouncy
